About the Culture Challenge for schools

Culture Challenge logo

The Culture Challenge aims to increase the number of students and young people accessing, enjoying and making great art and culture by providing clear details of cultural providers in your local area. It serves to strengthen the cultural landscape by building today’s audiences and tomorrow’s creative people. It encourages schools to engage with the wealth of cultural activity in their local area, urge cultural providers to be ready for young people and applaud children and young people who want to explore art and culture for themselves.

What the challenge does

The Culture Challenge is an online directory of artists, cultural providers and organisations that have an offer for young people and schools. It supports and encourages schools to engage with these providers and works with the school to inspire young people and give them access to creative workshops, different ways of thinking and give them an outrageous sense of entitlement to culture and the arts. It also provides a service to its practitioners by sharing artist opportunities and training.

Listing cultural providers in Central Bedfordshire

We're working with the Culture Challenge to provide a diverse listing of providers and organisations for Central Bedfordshire's schools and youth groups. If you are a provider working with young people and schools and want your offer advertised on the Culture Challenge website, or you're a teacher, governor or youth worker looking to commission a provider, please get in touch with Ailene at aileneg@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk.

Culture vouchers

A big part of the challenge's work is funding activities in schools through culture vouchers. Culture vouchers work as a closed currency, awarded to schools to spend on the delivery of a creative workshop with a Culture Challenge listed provider and are announced as and when they are available through our e-newsletters to schools.
