Shillington road closure – until 3 November 2025

Hanscombe End Road in Shillington is closed until 3 November 2025. Grant Palmer route 79 is unable to serve bus stops on Hillfoot Lane, Church Street, High Road or Hanscombe End Road. Please use stops on Bury Road at Hillfoot End. Centrebus route 89 is not affected.

Local bus service changes – 31 August 2025

East Bedfordshire area

Arriva (Herts and Essex) route 97 (Stotfold – Letchworth – Hitchin) will have minor timing changes in the morning peak. Some buses will be slightly earlier than now, and one journey will run as route 97A towards Hitchin, diverting via Wilbury Hills. Arriva Herts and Essex – service information (opens in a new tab).

Central Connect route 812 (Gamlingay – Potton – Bassingbourn Village College) is withdrawn.

Grant Palmer route 73 (Biggleswade – Sandy – Bedford) will have an additional morning peak journey from Kings Reach to Bedford, via Biggleswade and Sandy. Mid Bedfordshire area

Arriva route LOOP (Milton Keynes – Bletchley – Woburn Sands) will have a new timetable.

Arriva route X1 (Luton – Dunstable – Hockliffe – Milton Keynes) will have a new timetable. Coaches will run direct along the A5 to Milton Keynes and no longer serve Bletchley, and will be extended beyond Luton to Luton Airport Parkway and Capability Green. Some Flittabus routes in the Flitwick area have route and timetable changes from 1 September 2025. Flittabus – official website (opens in a new tab).

Grant Palmer route 34 (Ampthill Heights – Flitwick – Milton Keynes) will have a new timetable with additional journeys in peak hours.

Grant Palmer route 42 (Bedford – Ampthill – Flitwick – Toddington – Dunstable) will have a new timetable with additional journeys, and a regular service through to and from Dunstable.

Grant Palmer route 44 (Bedford – Clophill – Maulden – Flitwick) will have minor changes to the times of morning peak journeys towards Bedford.

New Grant Palmer route Z1 (Lidlington – Marston Moretaine – Flitwick) will operate on Saturdays, offering links to trains on the Thameslink line towards Luton and London. South Bedfordshire Dial-a-Ride route 47 (Toddington – Woburn – Leighton Buzzard, Tuesday only) will have a new timetable, with the afternoon journey leaving Leighton Buzzard slightly earlier. Routes 47A (Toddington – Woburn – Dunstable), 48 (Toddington – Woburn – Milton Keynes) and 49 (Ridgmont – Woburn Sands) will be withdrawn.

Stagecoach route MK1 (Bedford – Barton-le-Clay – Luton – Luton Airport – Milton Keynes) will have a new timetable, broadly to the same frequencies as now. Stagecoach East – Bedfordshire service updates (opens in a new tab).

Uno routes C1, C10 and C11 (Bedford – Cranfield – Milton Keynes) will have a new timetable, including slight reductions to evening services, and withdrawal of the Cranfield – Milton Keynes additional journeys on Saturday and Sunday. Some journeys on route C10 will divert via Kimberley College at Stewartby. Routes C5 (Cranfield – Kimberley College / Wootton Upper School) and CX (Milton Keynes – Cranfield University, limited stop) also have timetable changes. Leighton Buzzard and Linslade area

Route L5 (Linslade – Leighton Buzzard town centre – Vandyke) will have two additional journeys on Monday to Friday operated by South Bedfordshire Dial-a-Ride. There is no change to the times of existing Centrebus journeys.

Arriva routes X2 and X3 (Luton Airport – Luton – Dunstable – Leighton Buzzard – Milton Keynes) will have a new timetable. Evening journeys, and half the Sunday service, will run as route X3 via Tilsworth, Stanbridge, Leighton Road / Roundel Drive / Stanbridge Road and Stoke Hammond.

Arriva route X4 (Milton Keynes – Heath and Reach – Leighton Buzzard – Aylesbury) will have a new timetable and will no longer run to and from Milton Keynes. Only school-day journeys will run to Heath and Reach. The route via Sandhills / Roman Gate will not change. Buses (apart from school-day journeys to Heath and Reach) will run via West Street every day and terminate at Leighton Buzzard Railway Station. Red Rose Travel route 150 (Heath and Reach – Leighton Buzzard – Aylesbury) will have a new timetable, with buses extended to and from Heath and Reach. Dunstable, Houghton Regis and South Bedfordshire area

Arriva route 1 (Dunstable – Luton – Farley Hill) will have minor timetable changes.

Arriva route 4 / 4A (Luton – Bushmead – Bramingham Park – Luton + Dunstable Hospital / Dunstable) will have minor timetable changes, including additional Monday to Friday route 4 journeys to and from Dunstable.

Arriva route 321 (Luton – St Albans – Watford / Watford Hospital) will have a new timetable, with services increased to every 15 minutes during Monday to Friday and Saturday daytimes. School-day variant 821 will no longer run.

Arriva route 721 (Luton – St Albans – Hemel Hempstead) will be withdrawn. Connections can be made at St Albans between route 321 and new route 300 or existing route 302 to and from Hemel Hempstead.

Arriva routes A and Z (Luton Airport – Luton – Busway – Dunstable – Houghton Regis – Luton + Dunstable Hospital – Luton – Luton Airport), H (Luton – Dunstable – Thorn) and L (Luton – Houghton Regis – Linmere) will have minor timetable changes, including amended times to overnight journeys on routes A and Z.

Arriva school routes to and from Cardinal Newman School, Luton have new timetables. Route CS1 (Luton – Dunstable – Cedars School, Leighton Buzzard) has a new timetable. Centrebus route B (Luton – Dunstable – Downside) will have very minor timetable changes.

Centrebus route ZOO (Luton – Dunstable – Whipsnade Zoo) runs only during the summer season. The last day of this year’s operation will be Sunday 31 August 2025.

Centrebus route 366 (Luton – East Hyde – Harpenden – Welwyn Garden City – Hatfield) has minor timetable changes, and a change to route in Welwyn Garden City. Centrebus – service updates (opens in a new tab).

Grant Palmer route C (Luton – Dunstable – Beecroft) and CX (Luton – Dunstable Amazon) will have additional evening journeys between Luton and Dunstable town centre or Amazon.

Red Eagle route 61 (Aylesbury – Tring – Eaton Bray – Totternhoe – Dunstable) has a new timetable with additional journeys between Dunstable and Pitstone, via Totternhoe and Eaton Bray. On school days, an additional journey will run via Queensbury Academy, Dunstable. This enhancement is funded through the Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan in partnership with the Government. South Beds Dial-a-Ride route 40 (Dunstable – Whipsnade – Studham – Kensworth – Dunstable) will have a revised timetable. Afternoon peak journeys (route 40A) to Langdale Road and Lowther Road will be replaced by diversions to journeys on route 231. There are no changes to the Dunstable – Katherine Drive section.

South Bedfordshire Dial-a-Ride route 47A (Toddington – Woburn – Dunstable, Thursday only) will be withdrawn.

South Bedfordshire Dial-a-Ride route 231 (Dunstable – Caddington – Pepperstock) will divert via Manor Road at Aley Green to serve Hillcrest Park, and will no longer serve Mancroft Road, Aley Green. There will be a revised timetable, including two afternoon / early evening journeys that will operate via Langdale Road and Lowther Road, so will no longer pick up at Dunstable Square / Friars Walk.

Uno route 610 (Luton – Hatfield) will have a new timetable and will no longer run south of Hatfield. Routes 242 and 243 will provide links towards Potters Bar from Hatfield.
