On Thursday 15 May 2025, Councillor Kevin Collins was appointed as Chair of Central Bedfordshire Council.

Councillor Collins represents Caddington and has been a councillor for 11 years.

As well as presiding over Full Council meetings, Councillor Collins will represent the Council on civic visits, at ceremonial events and will raise funds and awareness for his chosen charities.

The Chair’s role

The Chair is elected by the Council.

He/she chairs the full Council meetings, interprets the Council’s Constitution and ensures the business of the Council is conducted efficiently and effectively, enabling all councillors’ equal opportunities to speak and to question the Executive Members and those who hold Committee chairmanships. He/she also promotes public involvement in the Council’s activities.

On the civic/ceremonial side of the role, he/she attends civic and ceremonial events representing the Council and promoting and explaining the Council’s work. The Chairman is an ambassador for the Council.

2025 engagements

Wednesday, 4 June, 10:30am

The Chairman attended a coffee morning for all new mayors and chairs at Grove View, Dunstable hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant.

Wednesday, 18 June, 8pm

The Chairman attended the Dunstable Scouts AGM held at the 1st Dunstable Scout Group Headquarters, Creasy Park Drive, Dunstable LU6 1BB.

Saturday, 21 June, 6pm

The Chairman accompanied by his wife, Sandra Collins, attended a reception at Howbury Hall, Renhold, Bedford. Followed by a sunset ceremony by Corps of Drums of Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force.

Wednesday, 25 June, 7:30pm

The Chairman attended the Bedfordshire County Scout Council’s Annual General Meeting held at The Lodge, Leslie Sell Activity Centre, Molivers Lane, Bromham.
