Health and wellbeing for children and young people with SEND

If your child is unwell

Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has produced a range of factsheets (link opens in new window) to help parents or anyone who looks after a child get the best help in the event of sudden illness or injury.

These cover:

  • stomach pain
  • head injury
  • bronchitis
  • fever
  • sickness and diarrhoea

More information is also available on NHS Choices (link opens in new window).

NHS 111 also offers advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week: trained NHS staff can tell you where to go if someone, particularly a child, has experienced a bang to the head, a sprain or an unexplained rash. This service is really useful over bank holidays when pharmacies and GPs may be closed. All you have to do is dial 111 to talk to the NHS.

For persistent illnesses, please make an appointment to see your GP.
