Read our tenant newsletter for the last quarter (PDF, view in browser or download).
By completing surveys and joining focus groups, you help us identify what’s working well and where we need to do better. Below are the outcomes from engagement activities.
You said, we did
Listening to you. Improving together.
Your voice matters. Every survey completed, panel attended, coffee morning joined and conversation shared helps us improve our housing services.
Over the last few months, hundreds of tenants have taken the time to tell us what matters most. We've listened carefully and, more importantly, we're acting on what you've told us.
Here's a snapshot of how your feedback is making a real difference.
You said: make our Repairs & Maintenance Policy easier to understand
We did:
You told us our newly written Repairs & Maintenance Policy needed clearer information about emergency repairs, response times, damp and mould, responsibilities and chargeable repairs.
We've updated the policy to reflect your suggestions and will continue working with our Repairs Panel before the final version is published.
You said: Improve the tenant interview process, giving tenants opportunities to be involved in the recruitment process of housing staff
We did:
As a result, we're:
- updating guidance for managers
- introducing additional feedback forms
- developing tenant-designed interview questions
- reviewing the whole process to make tenant involvement more meaningful in recruitment
You said: Hold tenant events at times that work for us.
We did:
You told us evening events would be easier to attend and asked for more Housing teams to be available.
Our next Tenant Open Day will be held during the early evening, with Repairs, Planned Works and Neighbourhood Officers attending to answer your questions.
We're also increasing promotion in areas where attendance has been lower.
You said: Make community coffee mornings more useful.
We did:
Instead of general drop-in sessions, you asked for themed events covering topics that matter most.
We're introducing themed sessions starting with repairs, and if successful, we'll roll these out across our Independent Living schemes from the autumn.
You said: Our newly written Competency and Conduct Policy needs to be clearer and easier to understand.
We did:
Following engagement on our new Housing Competency & Conduct Policy, we've:
- simplified the language
- improved diagrams and explanations
- strengthened the policy objectives
- started developing a new Professional Standards and Supervision Policy to support consistent service standards
You said: We'd like local property forums to hear more about planned works and general maintenance in our community and homes.
We did:
More than 97 tenants have already told us they'd be interested in attending a Resident Property Forum.
The most popular topics are:
- Planned Works
- General Repairs
- Damp and Mould
We are looking to run our first tenant forums later in the year.
You said: Explain the Right to Buy process more clearly.
We did:
Tenants told us the draft policy needed clearer information about:
- who can apply
- what evidence is needed
- how the process works
We're now reviewing the policy to make it easier to understand before it's finalised.
Thank you for getting involved
Every piece of feedback you share helps us improve our services.
Whether you've attended a tenant panel, completed a survey, joined a coffee morning or spoken to one of our teams, your views are helping shape the future of Housing Services across Central Bedfordshire.
We know there is always more to do, and not every improvement happens overnight, but we're committed to listening, learning and working with you to make positive changes.
Have your say
There are lots of ways to get involved, from completing surveys and joining resident panels to attending local events and helping review our services.
Together, we can continue to make Housing Services better for everyone.
You said. We listened. We're making changes.
