What the qualification covers

The knowledge and understanding of babies and young children, aged birth to 7, with applied knowledge in the early years (birth to 5).

Who the course is suitable for

Those who are working or volunteering for a minimum of 15 hours per week, in an early years setting. You must be a key worker and involved in planning and evaluation.

Entry requirements

What are the entry requirements? You must be at least 16 years old.

How the course is completed

By being observed in the workplace and completing e-learning and written tasks.

You will need to demonstrate competency in all age groups: 0 –1 yr11 months, 2-2yrs 11 months,3 –5 yrs.

**This qualification is eligible for full funding from the National Skills Fund if you have not completed a Level 3 qualification previously, in any subject, are employed and earning less than the National Living Wage (£18,525 pa) or are unemployed and claiming benefits*. You must be in a suitable role to apply for this work-based qualification.
