Request a traffic study and temporary parking restrictions, Cedars Way, Leighton Buzzard
Full details of the e-petition
Conduct an in-person observational traffic study in Cedars Way, Leighton Buzzard, between the intersection with Wing Road to Mentmore Road between 7:30am to 10am and 3pm to 6pm on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. There are several issues with the parking in this road which causes:
- Complete gridlock for traffic along Wing Road, Cedars Way and surrounding streets
- Congests traffic along the entirety of Wing Road to the roundabout on the A4146
- Causes dangerous conditions for pedestrians and motorists, with cars only progressing along these roads due to the "good will" of other drivers, there's no constant traffic flow. This creates confusion, drivers "pushing in", and pedestrians not knowing when or when not to cross the road
- Lengthy delays and frustration for drivers and pedestrians. The average time spent trying to progress from the roundabout at A4146 to Cedars Day Nursery is 28 minutes during the times mentioned above. This is outrageous and could be dramatically improved by timed parking restrictions in Cedars Way.
- It is absurd to permit parking along Cedars Way between the roundabout at Wing Road down to the intersection with Finch Crescent, when Cedars Way is the primary point of access to a primary school, high school, leisure centre, nursery and major A road, with the added issue of one-way traffic beneath the rail bridge and traffic lights to also contend with. This is appalling planning.
Supporting details
I request a traffic study to confirm the issues above, followed by parking suspension in Cedars Way between the roundabout at Wing Road down to the intersection with Finch Crescent between the hours of 7am and 10am and 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday.
