Request for double yellow lines on Beancroft Road, Marston Moreteyne

Full details of the e-petition

Dear council representative,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to formally request the implementation of double yellow lines along Beancroft Road in Marston Moreteyne. As a concerned local resident, I feel that the current parking situation poses a significant safety risk to both pedestrians and emergency services, and urgent action is required to address these issues.

One of the primary concerns is the difficulty emergency vehicles face in navigating through the traffic congestion that builds up behind parked cars. On numerous occasions, I have witnessed fire engines, ambulances, and police vehicles struggling to gain access to the road due to the volume of parked vehicles. This delay in response times could have serious consequences, particularly in urgent or life-threatening situations.

Additionally, the parking of vehicles along Beancroft Road presents a significant hazard to children crossing the street. Due to the cars blocking sightlines, children are unable to see oncoming traffic, which heightens the risk of accidents. This situation is particularly concerning given the proximity of the road to local schools and residential areas where families and children frequently walk.

The introduction of double yellow lines would alleviate both the traffic congestion and the safety hazards caused by obstructed sightlines. It would ensure that emergency services can pass freely and allow pedestrians, particularly children, to cross the road with greater visibility and reduced risk.

I kindly ask that the council review the situation on Beancroft Road as a matter of priority and take the necessary steps to implement double yellow lines in the area.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I look forward to your response.
