Definition of 'children of staff'

Priority will be given to children of staff employed at the specific school applied for, in either of the following circumstances:

• The member of staff has been employed at that school for two or more years at the time of application
• The member of staff is recruited to fill a post at that school for which there is a demonstrable skills shortage

For the purpose of this criterion, “staff” means all permanent employees of the school or the Pyramid Schools Trust (PST) whose duties are based at the school applied for.

The staff member must be the child’s biological or adoptive parent or have legal parental responsibility for the child and the child must have lived at the same address as the parent employed by the school for at least one year at the time of application.

Definition of 'children who appear to have been in state care outside of England'

Children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

A child is regarded as having been in state care in a place outside of England if they were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation or any other provider of care whose sole purpose if to benefit society.
