• all ‘Looked After’ children or children who were previously ‘Looked After’. including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted
• children of staff; 
  • where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application is made and/or
  • the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post at the school for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage
• children who have siblings currently at The Houstone School
• children who attend the Trust’s feeder primary schools 
• shortest Distance

• all 'looked after' children or children who were previously 'looked after', including children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted (see definition below)
• priority will next be given to the siblings of pupils attending the school at the time the application is received
• priority will next be given to the children of staff who have been recruited to fill a skill-shortage area
• feeder 1 (The Vale Academy)
• any other children

If in the last 3 categories above and a tie-break is necessary to determine which child is admitted, the child living closest to the school will be given priority for admission.

Children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

A child is regarded as having been in state care in a place outside of England if they were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation or any other provider of care whose sole purpose if to benefit society.
