Following the Stage 1 Community Governance Review consultation, residents and stakeholders were invited to comment on draft recommendations from 3 November 2025 to 26 January 2026. A total of 1308 responses were received.
After considering the feedback on 17 April 2026, the General Purposes Committee agreed most proposals but identified a further change for Houghton Regis (view meeting minutes, PDF), requiring a separate consultation on the creation of a new Linmere ward. This consultation ran from 12 May to 9 June 2026 and received 106 responses.
The General Purposes Committee considered the results on 25 June 2026 and recommended the draft arrangements to Full Council. The consultation results (PDF) are summarised in the General Purposes Committee report.
The final arrangements were approved by Full Council on 16 July 2026, and are available as part of the Full Council committee papers. The proposed arrangements will now be submitted to the Local Government Boundary Committee for England (LGBCE) for approval, enabling any agreed changes to be implemented in time for the 2027 parish elections.
