Meritorious cadet forces members are flying high
Four people associated with Bedfordshire’s cadet forces have been presented with prestigious awards.
The quartet received Certificates for Meritorious Service from HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, at a special ceremony held at Jordan’s Mill, near Broom.
The four recipients and their family members were joined by dignitaries including the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, the Countess of Erroll; Chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council, Cllr David Bowater; Mayor of Luton, Cllr Dave Taylor; Speaker of Bedford Borough Council, Cllr Wendy Rider; Lt Commander Ruth Bell MBE DL RNR, Bedfordshire District Officer; Lt Colonel Jonathan Searle, Beds and Herts Army Cadet Force and Wing Commander Anthony Kelly, Officer Commanding Beds and Cambs Wing ATC.
The recipients honoured were:
Petty Officer Carl Worker – Dunstable Sea Cadet Unit
Sergeant Major Instructor Nicholas Dilley and Staff Sergeant Instructor Gwyneth Price – Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force
Flight Sergeant James Tye – 134 (Bedford) Squadron Air Training Corps
Mrs Nellis said: “I was delighted to celebrate the achievements and huge contribution of the people who received certificates at the ceremony.
“They are an inspiration to us all and a reminder of how much difference each of us can make when we go the extra mile to serve in these important organisations in our communities.
“It was a particular pleasure to conduct the ceremony at Jordan’s Mill, one of Bedfordshire historic treasures, where we received a very warm welcome.”
