Pix Brook Academy pre-planning consultation drop-in session

Wednesday, 3 April 2019

We will be holding a Pix Brook Academy drop-in session on Friday, 5 April from 3pm to 7pm for local residents to view initial plans and ask questions about the new free school.

The permanent site for the extended secondary school will open in September 2020. Until then, a school will open on a temporary site on at Etonbury Academy in September 2019, with admissions now open to prospective parents.

The Department for Education last week gave approval of the funding to open Pix Brook Academy, which is a significant and important milestone that enables the authority to progress the building of the school.

We will be submitting a planning application by the end of April, so the feedback received could help to refine the plans and initial design.

The drop-in session will take place at Fairfield Park Lower School, Ruskin Drive site, however, initial plans are also available to view online at and feedback can be submitted until 12 April via an online form.

Central Bedfordshire Council Director of Children’s Services, Sue Harrison, said: “We are preparing to submit a planning application for the school by the end of the month, but before we do we want to engage with local residents about the plans.

“We would like to know any general comments people have regarding the initial design, but we are especially interested to hear views on the appearance of the building, improved external areas and access to the school site.

“Officers from the council will be available to discuss the plans and answer questions, so I would urge any interested parties to come along.”
