Shefford Library has moved to a temporary home at Shefford Lower School over the summer while the essential works are carried out to repair severe water damage.
The move to the children’s library of the Lower School will allow the service to continue its Summer Reading Challenge, Craft Activities and Story Time events.
Library customers will also be able to request, collect, return and renew items from the temporary library at the Lower School in School Lane, Shefford which will be open from 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Wednesday and from 9.30am to 5pm on Thursday and Friday.
The drop-bin in Morrison’s supermarket will continue to be available for customers wanting to return loaned items. The Virtual Library can also be used to renew and request items, search the library catalogue and find out about events.
Events taking place at the Shefford Lower School temporary library during August are:
- Friday 8 August, 10am to 10.30am – Story time
- Friday 15 August, 10am to 11.30am – Summer Reading Challenge craft activity – ‘Make a Phoenix’
- Thursday 21 August, 10am to 11.30am - Summer Reading Challenge craft activity – ‘Make a Medusa Hat’
- Friday 22 August, 10am to 10.30am – Story time
Councillor Brian Spurr, Executive Member for Community Services says: “I’m really glad that we’ve been able to make some temporary arrangements that will allow us to continue to run our summer activities and offer a limited service to customers. I’m grateful to Shefford Lower School for their support.
“We are working hard to reopen Shefford Library in September and apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused while we carry out these essential works.”
