After a very successful summer holiday based at Shefford Lower School, staff are now closing the temporary library (closed to the public from 28th August) so that the premises can be made ready for the start of the school term.
There will be a short break in the provision of library services while this takes place. Staff will then re-open a further temporary library on Monday 8 September in the Conservative Office (opposite the current flooded library building). This will remain open to the public throughout September until normal services can be resumed; it is hoped to re-open in the usual premises during the first two weeks of October. We will keep you informed as to the actual opening date as more information becomes available.
Councillor Ian Dalgarno, deputy executive member for Community Services said: “We are working hard to re-open Shefford Library in October. Repairs have taken slightly longer due extent of the damage and the time it has taken to dry out the building. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused while we carry out these essential works.”
While in the Conservative Office, the library will open as follows:
- Monday: 2.00pm – 5.30pm
- Tuesday: 9.30am – 5.30pm
- Wednesday: 2.00pm – 5.30pm
- Thursday: 9.30am – 5.30pm
- Friday: 9.30am – 5.30pm
- Saturday: 9.30am - 1:00pm
- Sunday: Closed
Due to the proximity of the Conservative Party Office, the drop-bin in Morrison’s supermarket will no longer be required from Monday 8th September.
You will be able to request, collect, return and renew items in the temporary library. Please do not try to return any items to Shefford Library via the letter box drop box as this will be disabled.
