The Chilterns Gateway Visitor Centre Café
The Chilterns Gateway Centre Café is open daily from 10am until 5pm
The café is the heart of the visitor centre, providing a spacious, light and comfortable indoor seating area with glorious views across the Downs and Chilterns. It transforms a visit to the Downs and offers a great place for friends and family to meet during their stay. The attractive courtyard area provides additional seating to enjoy on warmer days.
The National Trust is delighted to be running the new café and we believe you will be equally delighted with the fare! The menu features a wide range of hot lunches, sandwiches and filled rolls, cakes confectionary and ice cream as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks.
Wherever possible in National Trust kitchens and cafes, we try to source local, regional and seasonal food of British origin. This has been an interesting challenge but we have sourced meat products from our sister property at Wimpole and chips made from British potatoes. We’ve even put the traditional Bedfordshire Clanger back on menu which, who knows, could rival the Cornish pasty one day!
