Blue badge scheme
A Blue Badge (formerly Orange Badge) can permit parking where it is otherwise restricted and to allow badge holders to park close to their destination.
A badge may be applied for in relation to a child who is over two years old and has serious difficulty walking. This includes children with very severe behavioural difficulties whose walking is affected by that behaviour. There are new criteria for children under two years who have a condition requiring the transportation of bulky medical equipment or have to be kept near the vehicle at all times for treatment in the vehicle or for transportation to a place for treatment.
You can download the blue badge
application form (PDF 170KB) (PDF 550KB) and return the completed form (with the requested enclosures) to:

RADAR National Key Scheme (NKS)
The National Key Scheme was introduced because an increasing number of local authorities and other organisations providing public toilets felt that they had to lock their toilets, to counter vandalism and in order to reduce costs. If toilets have to be locked, local authorities and others are asked to join the NKS which involves fitting standard locks to their toilets and making keys available to disabled people.
Nearly 3000 toilets across the country have been fitted with NKS locks. The countrywide list of toilets fitted with the RADAR National Key Scheme lock is available online as part of the website www.directenquiries.com – this website also gives a list of accessible toilets.
A RADAR key can be obtained, free of charge, from the:
Disability Resource Centre
