Schools - school education

Schools and school education in Central Bedfordshire

Schools education is a three tier system.

Children begin their school education in Lower School in Year R and transfer to Middle School at the end of Year 4 and then transfer to Upper School at the end of Year 8.

Lower Schools: Year R - Year 4
Middle Schools: Year 5 - Year 8
Upper Schools: Year 9 - Year 13

Schools and school education - school uniform clothing costs

From April 2011 the local authority is unable to offer discretionary grants toward help with school uniforms. Parents are advised to contact schools directly to see if they have any schemes in place to offer support or advice as where to obtain reasonably priced school uniforms.
