Adult Learners Week 12-18 May 2012
Adult Learners Week is the UK’s largest annual festival of learning; inspiring thousands of people each year to discover how learning can change their lives. Adult Learners’ Week celebrates all kinds of learners and promotes the benefits of every type of learning.
Adult Learners’ Week gives you the opportunity to explore the many different kinds of learning available, whether you want to:
- get a better job
- try something you’ve always wanted to
- be able to help your children at school
- discover something new
Adult learners week also recognises the achievements of learners and inspiring learning projects through national and regional awards.
To celebrate Adult Learners Week Bedfordshire Adult Skills & Community Learning are holding a Free Family Fun Day on Saturday 12 May 2012, 11 am - 3 pm, at Kingsland Skills & Enterprise Centre, Parkside Drive, Houghton Regis LU5 5PY.
Come and have a go at our FREE fun family activities:
- Climb aboard a Fire Engine
- Bouncy Castle
- Story Time
- Ukulele Playing
- Arts and Crafts for all the family
- Computing and Digital photography …..and more
There is also the opportunity to take part in 'Battlefield Live'* laser tag gaming on one of the largest Mobile Inflatable Battlefields available in the UK. * Call now on 0300 300 8184 to reserve your place or you can book on the day however places are limited. Children must be 7 years or over and only 2 children per adult.

Leighton Buzzard classes moving to the Library/Theatre complex
The classes have now been running at the Library/Theatre complex for a number of weeks, the initial feedback from both learners and tutors is that the classroom is good, well equipped, professional and an improvement on the previous facilities.

Bedfordshire Adult Skills & Community Learning Moodle
Moodle is known as: an Open Source Course Management System (CMS); a Learning Management System (LMS); a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
We have developed a Moodle that allows:
- Learners to complete an online induction to the service
- Learners to take part in blended learning courses
- Tutors to complete online training at a time that suits them
- Staff to access key information and Staff Development opportunities
