Work clubs

About work clubs

From 1 April 2018, work clubs will be replaced by an opportunity to meet one of our national careers service (NCS) team for impartial information, advice and guidance.

Appointments with NCS advisors will be available in libraries during the same hours as the previous work clubs. Advisors will be on hand to help with:

  • writing or updating CVs
  • searching for jobs
  • making job applications
  • considering voluntary work
  • considering job options, for example, self-employment
  • preparing for interviews
  • exploring training options

How to make an appointment

You will need to pre-book an appointment with an advisor. To book an appointment:

About the service

The Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Service continues to provide opportunities for learning within the community. In particular, it is aimed at those who have not achieved a level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and/or who are unemployed. It can help you to:

  • get back into learning
  • gain skills and qualifications to help you into work
  • gain skills and qualifications to help you progress at work

If you are unemployed and claiming benefits, your local Jobcentre Plus will also continue to support you with its own services and others, including those from organisations managing the new Work and Health Programme (GOV.UK) (link opens in new window).
