Getting help and advice about overcrowding
In certain severe cases, we can take enforcement action to deal with overcrowded conditions using national enforcement guidance known as the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) under provisions in The Housing Act 2004.
If you think you or your family are living in severe overcrowded conditions contact the Private Sector Housing Team by calling 0300 300 8007 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
They will be able to discuss and, if necessary, visit the premises to carry out a full assessment of the condition of your home.
Call the Shelter housing advice helpline on 0808 800 4444 or find your nearest Shelter advice centre (link opens in new window).
