The Brokerage Project
Central Bedfordshire Council is delivering a project to promote the development of brokerage support. Brokerage is a term that is used to describe the types of support people can use to help them plan and arrange for their health, care and support needs. Brokerage can apply to the situation of people who are accessing personal budgets funded by a local council or health service, or by people who are self-funding their support. This links in to the development of more personalised services in the field of health and social care.
The project is currently piloting a range of brokerage activities in partnership with a number of local voluntary and community sector agencies.
Project Grant
The project also has a small amount of grant funding to help develop brokerage support, and wants to focus on seed-funding a range of community-based brokerage options, “micro-projects” and activities at a grass roots level.
