Conservation Area Appraisals
Central Bedfordshire is committed to reviewing the boundaries of its Conservation Areas and to producing appraisals of them to set out why they are of special interest. We are carrying out a rolling programme of consultations in our Conservation Areas. Once consultations have been completed for a Conservation Area, the boundaries and the appraisal documents will then be amended, put to the Council and approved for Development Control purposes.
Each Appraisal will consider the character, appearance and setting of the Conservation Area, as well as identifying areas for possible future enhancement, that would benefit the amenity of the Conservation Area. The appraisals will seek to identify what comprises the special interest of the Conservation Area and contributes to the familiar and cherished local scene, and the sense of local distinctiveness, that is so important in defining the identity, harmony and unique sense of place.
