Schools- Travel and Transport
At Central Bedfordshire Council we want every child to have the opportunity to walk, cycle and use the bus as part of everyday life but particularly for making a safe journey to and from school. In doing this we hope young people in Central Bedfordshire will grow up to be healthy, confident adults with the ability to make independent travel choices whilst enriching their education and improving their local environment.
As a part of the Education and Inspections Act (2006) each Local Authority was required to develop a Sustainable Modes of Transport strategy which aims to assess the travel and transport needs of all pupils, and to promote sustainable travel. The strategy document aims to improve educational choice by providing details of the safe and sustainable modes of travel available to parents and pupils. The Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategy will be consulted upon and further updated over the coming year.
