In-Year Admission
If you move into the area during the school year or you wish to change your child's school, you will need to complete an In-Year application form. The form is available from schools or from the School Admissions Service or you can download the
In-Year application form (application/pdf; 769kB). Before completing the application form please read the
In-Year Admissions Notes of Guidance for Parents/Carers (application/pdf; 213kB), which explains the arrangements for applying for a school place. The guidance notes are also available from schools or from the School Admissions Service.
Starting School – September 2010
Children are normally admitted to lower school at the start of the reception year, that is the school year in which they become 5. Parents of children due to be admitted to school at this time will be required to complete the Admission to Lower School application form.
The application process for children Starting School in September 2010 will open in October and the closing date for receipt of applications is the 15 January 2010. Please re-visit the website in October for information on how to apply, you will also be able to download an application form and a Starting School booklet.
Transfer to Middle School - September 2010
Children normally transfer to middle school at 9+ (the end of Year 4). Parents of children attending lower schools will receive a
Transfer to Middle School application form (application/pdf; 174kB) and a
School Transfer 2010 booklet (application/pdf; 1984kB), at the start of Year 4, which explains the arrangements for applying for a school place.
We strongly recommend that you apply for a place using the online facility which will be available to you at the start of the admissions process in September until the closing date. The closing date for receipt of applications is 15 January 2010.

Transfer to Upper School
Children normally transfer to upper school at 13+ (end of Year 8). Parents of children attending middle schools and living in the local authority area will receive a
Transfer to Upper School Application Form (application/pdf; 111kB) and a
School Transfer 2010 booklet (application/pdf; 1984kB) at the start of Year 8, which explains the arrangements for applying for a school place.
We strongly recommend that you apply for a place using the online facility which will be available to you at the beginning of the admissions process in September until the closing date. The closing date for receipt of applications is 31 October 2010.

Parents of children living outside local authority area must complete their home Local Authority application form.
Transfer to Secondary school – September 2010
Central Bedfordshire Council operates a three tier system of education (Lower, Middle and Upper Schools) and there are no secondary schools in the local authority area.
Parents who live in Central Bedfordshire and wish their child to attend a secondary school from Year 7 will be required to complete the
Transfer to Secondary School/Academy application form (application/pdf; 278kB). Alternatively you can contact the School Admissions Service for an application form. The online application system is not available for this process.
Parents wishing to apply for a Secondary School/Academy in another local authority as an in-year admission (other than at the start of Year 7) will need to contact the relevant Local Authority.
