Consultation on School Admission Arrangements 2011

School Admission Arrangements – September 2011

The School Admissions Code replaces the requirement on admission authorities to consult annually on their admission arrangements. Admission authorities need only consult every three years, unless any changes are proposed to those arrangements.
The Central Bedfordshire Council is consulting on the following changes to its admissions arrangements for September 2011:

Admissions Criteria

  • The inclusion of an additional criterion to the admission policies of all community and voluntary controlled schools. The change will give catchment siblings a higher priority for admission than other catchment children. Please follow the link to view the proposed changes to the *standard policy (application/pdf; 128kB) - the changes are shown in italics.
  • Some community and voluntary controlled schools have criteria in addition to those set out in the standard policy. These will be retained, subject to the changes below. The change to give catchment siblings a higher priority will be inserted at the appropriate point in the policy. Please follow the link to the *Starting School (application/pdf; 1053kB) booklet and the *School Transfer (application/pdf; 1984kB) booklet which show the existing criteria - see individual school information sheets.
  •  The Governing Bodies of the following schools that are their own admission authority are proposing to make a similar change to their policies and have asked the Local Authority to consult on their behalf.  The change to give catchment siblings a higher priority will be inserted at the appropriate point in the policy.  Please follow the link to the *Starting School (application/pdf; 1053kB)* (application/pdf; 1053kB)booklet and the *School Transfer (application/pdf; 1984kB) booklet which show the existing criteria - see individual school information sheets.
