Family and Community Learning

Family Learning Programmes are funded by the Learning Schools Council (LSC) and are delivered in early year’s settings, children’s centres, schools, libraries, community venues and in any other settings where parents and children are brought together. Family Learning consists of two strands, Wider Family Learning (WFL) and Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy (FLLN).

 

Wider Family Learning (WFL)

ACL Family Learning

These programmes aim to:

  • Encourage parents/carers and their children to learn together
  • Develop the skills or knowledge of the adults and children
  • Help parents/carers to be more active in the support of their children’s interests, learning and development

Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy (FLLN)

These programmes aim to:

  • Improve the literacy, language and numeracy skills of parents/carers  
  • Improve parents’/carers’ ability to help their children learn 
  • Improve children’s acquisition of literacy, language and numeracy
