Creating Stronger Communities
One of the key outcomes in the council’s emerging Five Year Plan is for our towns and villages to be sustainable and resilient places, where
- people are supported to help themselves and others
- people of all ages will be encouraged to volunteer; and
- residents, community organisations and town and parish councils will have opportunities to do more in and for their communities
The council is working together with partners towards these desired outcomes, and to ensure there is a ‘can do’ approach to making it happen, support for people to help themselves and others, and residents of all ages and organisations, such as Town and Parish Councils will have opportunity to do more – on either a voluntary or a paid basis.
We support through grant funding three voluntary and community sector (VCS) infrastructure organisations. These are Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC), Community and Voluntary Service (CVS) and Voluntary and Community Action Central Bedfordshire (VCA).
