Guidance Notes - Removal and Disposal of Unwanted Fridge/Freezer

Thank you for requesting a collection. This service allows for the removal of 1 item only (a combined Fridge/Freezer is accepted as 1 item)
'The first collection is free, any subsequent collections will cost £35 (inc VAT)
It is not possible for the collectors to enter the property; therefore the items must be placed outside and at ground floor level and be available by 7.00 a.m.
Should you not wish to use this service, you may take your items to the Household Waste Recycling Centres where you can dispose of them free of charge. A permit is required for the disposal of fridges/ freezers. Sites are situated in Abbey Lane in Ampthill, Bells Brook Lane in Biggleswade, Frenchs Avenue in Dunstable and Shenley Hill Road in Leighton Buzzard. For further information contact the council or complete the waste disposal application form, available online.
Council Amenity sites are open daily as follows:
- 1 September to 30 April - 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
- 1 May to 31 August - 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to closing time to allow time to unload waste.
If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit, Pension Tax Credit or Income Support, the standard fee does not apply and the service is provided free of charge. Only 2 free applications in a twelve month period are allowed.
