Deprivation

In terms of overall deprivation none of the small areas in Central Bedfordshire was in the top 20% most deprived nationally, in 2007. Three small areas were in the top 10% most deprived in the East of England, and a further six were in the top 10-20% most deprived in the East. These are shown below.

The Index of Multiple Deprivation combines a number of indicators and produces a single overall deprivation score for small areas known as Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs). Each of these small areas covers around 1,500 people and there are 154 small areas in Central Bedfordshire.
