Overview and Scrutiny
The Overview and Scrutiny Committees aim to help improve the quality of life in Central Bedfordshire by monitoring the work of the Council and making recommendations about the services it provides. The Overview and Scrutiny Committees also appoint Task Forces to review issues in more detail.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committees published their first Annual Report in June 2010, which sets out the activites that the Committees have been involved in during 2009/10 and reflects on how the Committees have supported the delivery of the Council's priorities for 2009-11. The report sets out some of the outcomes achieved by the Committees and some of the major issues that have been reviewed. Central Bedfordshire Council has four separate Overview and Scrutiny Committees (OSCs):
- Children's Services (OSC) - (Learning and School Support, Integrated Services such as Children’s Trust, Youth Support and Extended Schools, Children’s Specialist Services, Policy planning and Commissioning).
- Customer and Central Services (OSC) - (Financial Services including Procurement, Revenues & Benefits, Human Resources & Organisational Development, Information & Communications Technology, Legal & Democratic Services, Property & Asset Management, Internal Audit, Performance & Risk, Partnerships & Insight, Planning & Programme Management & Communications).
- Social Care, Health and Housing (OSC) - (Independent living and care management, Landlord Services, Business systems and Market Strategy, Strategies for Health, Housing, Care and Inclusion, Well-being through Prevention and Options Services).
- Sustainable Communities (OSC) - (Community Safety and Public Protection, Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism and Delivery, Highways, Strategic Planning, Housing Strategy and Transportation, Development Management, Waste).
