A to Z:

Feel the Rhythm Across Central Bedfordshire

8 October 2009

Central Bedfordshire Council is delighted to announce a new season of user-friendly orchestral concerts and workshops for the whole family.

The first of five Rural Rhythms concerts will take place on Sunday 18 October at 3pm in Barton-le-Clay Village Hall, Hexton Road.

Autumn Into Winter with music by Mozart, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Roxanne Panufnik will be performed by the highly acclaimed and wonderfully talented Orchestra of the Swan (OotS). The Guardian and The Telegraph, as their Pick of the Week, frequently choose OotS so the audience is in for a real treat.

Rural Rhythms is a project designed to bring high quality music and activity almost to people's doorsteps so concerts will also be taking place across Central Bedfordshire:

Sat 5 Dec in Toddington, Village Hall

Sat 30 January in Eaton Bray, Village Hall

Sun 28 February in Shefford, St Michael & All Angels Church

Sat 27 March in Flitwick, Rufus Centre

Further details can be found on the Arts development section of this website or by contacting Hilary Western Youth & Community Arts on 0300 300 4244.

Cllr Steve Male, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Skills at Central Bedfordshire Council said: "Many of us will be surprised at exactly how much classical music we recognise. Many wonderful pieces of music are used in adverts, films and TV programmes every day but the best way to experience their true sound is by watching an orchestra perform. Rural Rhythms gives everyone the chance to do that and this series of concerts is certainly not one to miss."

Ticket prices at £8 (full), £6 (concessions) and £3 (under 18s) have been kept family friendly too with a family ticket at just £19 for 2 adults + 2 under 18s.

There is also a five for four Season Ticket offer at £32 (full), £24 (concessions), £12 (under 18s) and £76 (family) when you buy tickets before the first concert from Central Box Office 01234 219519.
