Consultation and Community Engagement
Central Bedfordshire Council is committed to the people of Central Bedfordshire and providing good quality public services for local people. In order to achieve this vision it is vital that we understand the views, needs and aspirations of the communities we serve. All local authorities have a statutory duty to consult on specific areas of service delivery. As a customer focused Council, it is committed to extending its consultation beyond statutory requirements.

Comprehensive Community Engagement Strategy
Central Bedfordshire Together (Local Strategic Partnership) has a draft comprehensive community engagement strategy, which has been developed in discussions with Council officers, Ward Councillors, Town and Parish Councils and Partners. We recently undertook a formal consultation on the draft strategy. Thank you to all those that took part in this consultation, we have now considered all of the comments received and will be revising the strategy accordingly. The most important changes so far were to incorporate asset transfer, including what safeguarding will be put in place to adequately protect these assets, and a business engagement plan as well as a few other more minor changes.
To view a full summary of the feedback click on the link below. This was discussed at the Central Bedfordshire Together meeting on 11th February 2010. The strategy is now being benchmarked against the National Framework for Empowering Authorities and a delivery plan will be developed.
The draft strategy and delivery plan will be discussed at the Councils Executive meeting on 4th May 2010 to determine how the strategy will be resourced and implemented.
