Special educational needs and disability (SEND) parent, children and young person partnership service

Independent supporters

Independent Support is a national programme commissioned by the Department for Education through the Council for Disabled Children (link opens in new window).

The role of the Independent Supporters (link opens in new window) is to provide help, advice and support to any family or young person going through a statutory Education Health and Care needs assessment, and those who are transitioning over to the new Education, Health and Care Plan from a statement of Special Educational Need. Our supporters will receive specific training for this role.
