Children's centres - activities for the under 5s
Children's centres are part of the government's strategy to provide high quality services to children, young people and their families, in order to give every child the best start in life.
Services and activities running at your local centre may include:
- child and family health services
- early education and school readiness
- links with Jobcentre Plus for training and employment advice
- early communication support
- support for children with special needs and their parents
- parenting programmes
- outreach and family support services
- information and advice to parents on childcare, early years provision and 2 year old funded places
- a variety of drop-in sessions
- support to access wider services
- a range of commissioned services
