Health and safety
Health and safety laws have to be enforced. The precautions and procedures to put them into force have saved lives and prevented thousands of incidents, injuries and illnesses – in both public places and workplaces.
If you’re a business owner, you may receive an inspection (with or without notice) from either:
- Environmental Services at Central Bedfordshire Council – if you run a shop, office, warehouse, hotel, catering or leisiure service.
or
- The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) – if you’re responsible for a factory, farm or building site.
