Registration of births deaths marriages and civil partnerships
Welcome to the Registration Service
The Registration Service is responsible for recording all births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships which occur in the Registration Districts of Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough and for undertaking civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies at its offices and at licensed venues within the area.
The Register Office is in Bedford, with outstations in Ampthill, Biggleswade, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, and holds records of all birth, death and marriage registrations for the area since 1837 and records of all local civil partnership registrations since 2005.
From 1st January 2004 all successful applicants for naturalisation as a British citizen are required to attend a Citizenship Ceremony. This Service is now responsible for arranging and conducting these ceremonies. We also offer a Nationality Checking Service for those wishing to apply to become British Citizens.
The Registration Service, in partnership with Civil Ceremonies Ltd, also offers celebratory services such as Baby Naming, Renewal of Vows, Commitment Ceremonies and Civil Funerals.
