Education maintenance award
If you stay on into sixth from at school or attend a course of further education at college, you may be entitled to receive a Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). EMAs are means tested. If you are eligible for an EMA you may receive up to £30 per week, paid directly to you, while you are studying to help you through your course.
Bonuses of £100 will also be paid if you remain on your course and make good progress. Payments of an EMA do not affect any other support or benefits paid by the government to your parents. For more information go to the EMA website which is provided by Directgov.
